Cricket Formats and Tournaments

Cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh, and to bet on it you first need to understand the differences between the formats. wintk offers markets across three main formats — T20, ODI and Test.

T20 is the fastest format, where each team plays just 20 overs. Runs come quickly, wickets fall fast, and the momentum shifts often. BPL and IPL are both played in this format. The T20 World Cup is the biggest event in this format, and the Bangladesh Tigers are regular participants.

ODI gives each team 50 overs. The longer match means a more varied range of betting markets. Separate markets are available for session-based betting, partnerships and total innings runs.

Test cricket is a five-day format. A draw is possible, so the match winner market has three options — Team A wins, Team B wins or draw. Experience and pitch conditions play a big role in Test matches.

International matches are also held in cities outside Dhaka, such as Sylhet, and wintk offers markets on those matches too. Analysing the performance of domestic franchise teams during the BPL season and betting accordingly is a different kind of fun.

Football and Other Sports

Alongside cricket, wintk also offers betting on football. The key difference in football is that match time is fixed — 90 minutes — and a draw is a common result. Match winner here means three options: Team A wins, Team B wins or draw. For that reason, the odds for the same team differ from cricket.

Just as cricket has markets for runs or wickets per over, football has markets for number of goals, corners and cards. In in-play betting, odds move quickly in both football and cricket — but in cricket, a single ball can bring a big shift, which makes the sport distinct.

For those who enjoy other types of gaming beyond cricket, wintk's casino section has options ranging from live table games and more.

Cricket vs football betting

  • In cricket, a draw is usually only possible in Test matches; T20 and ODI have a single winner
  • In football, a draw is always an option
  • Cricket has micro-markets based on overs, balls and wickets
  • Football has more markets for goals, half-time and cards
  • Live in-play betting is available in both

Popular Betting Markets

wintk offers many types of cricket markets. Below are the most familiar markets with a brief example of each.

Match Winner

The simplest market — pick which team will win. Two options in T20 and ODI, three in Test (Team A wins, Team B wins, draw). Example: if you think Team A is stronger, place a bet on them and check the result at the end of the match.

T20 ODI Test

Toss Market

Bet on which team will win the toss. The result is known before the match starts, so this is a quickly settled market. It is popular with those who prefer betting on smaller events rather than the match outcome.

Quick Settlement All Formats

Top Batsman

Bet on which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. Analysing the batting order and pitch conditions makes this market more engaging.

Player-Based Innings

Total Runs Over/Under

The bookmaker sets a runs line. You bet on whether the total runs in the match will be over or under that number. Example: line set at 160 runs — bet on whether the combined total of Team A and Team B will be above or below 160.

T20 ODI

Multi Bet

Place 3 or more bets on a single slip. If all selections win, the odds multiply to give a larger return, but if even one loses, the entire stake is lost. Example: bets on three separate matches — all of them must win.

High Return All Matches

Top Bowler / Man of the Match

Bet on which bowler will take the most wickets or which player will be named Man of the Match. Pitch conditions and analysis of the bowling attack are important for this market.

How to Read Odds

wintk odds format decimal fractional American

Odds on wintk may be displayed in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. All three express the same probability, just written differently. The examples below explain each:

Format Team A Win What it means
Decimal 3.00 Total return on a ৳1,000 stake is ৳3,000
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked
American +200 ৳200 profit on a ৳100 stake

Example 1 — Evenly matched teams: Team A's odds are 3.00 in decimal, 2/1 in fractional, +200 in American. A ৳1,000 stake returns ৳3,000 in total if Team A wins (৳2,000 profit + ৳1,000 stake back). If Team A loses, the ৳1,000 is gone.

Example 2 — Favourite's odds: Team B is the favourite with odds of 1.80 in decimal, 4/5 in fractional, -125 in American (minus means how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit). A ৳1,000 stake returns ৳1,800 in total if Team B wins (৳800 profit).

Decimal format is the easiest — just multiply the stake by the odds to get the total return.

Live In-Play Betting

Placing a bet before the match starts is not the only option — at wintk you can bet live while the match is in progress. This live in-play betting makes cricket more engaging, because the situation can change with every ball.

Suppose Team A has lost 2 quick wickets in the first powerplay. At that point, their odds of winning the match will lengthen, while the opposing Team B's odds will shorten. Someone with a good read on the players still at the crease can take advantage of these shifted odds by placing a bet at that moment.

Similarly, if only 15 runs are needed off the last over and Team B still has 7 wickets in hand, Team B's odds will naturally drop sharply. In in-play betting, odds update after every ball, so it pays to stay alert.

Fast connectivity and focus are both needed to enjoy live betting. Using the wintk App makes live betting on mobile easier.

When in-play odds change

1

When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds lengthen

2

After a big over, the bowling team's pressure eases

3

If the run rate rises in the death overs, the chasing team's odds improve

4

If rain or the DLS method comes into play, odds may be suspended or recalculated

5

If runs conceded in the powerplay are high, the pace bowler's figures change

A few things to keep in mind before you start betting

Cricket betting is one form of entertainment — it is not a reliable source of income. Keeping the following points in mind will make the betting experience better:

1

Set a budget. Allocate a fixed amount each season or each week. Do not exceed it, even when you are on a winning run.

2

Focus on one market. Start with either match winner or total runs, and move on to other markets gradually once you understand how they work.

3

Do not bet on emotion. Your favourite team is not automatically the best bet. Analyse the odds and the situation.

4

Be careful with multi bets. Combining many selections increases the potential return, but losing just one means the whole stake is gone. Example: three selections with odds 1.50 × 1.60 × 1.90 = approximately 4.56 — a ৳100 stake returns ৳456 if all win, but if even one loses you lose ৳100.

5

Play responsibly. Betting is for enjoyment. If you feel you have a problem, read the guidance on wintk's responsible gaming page.

Frequently Asked Questions

A T20 match ends within 20 overs — markets settle quickly and total runs are generally higher. ODI has 50 overs, so the markets are broader — for example, middle-over runs and second-innings momentum can be tracked separately. In T20, a single over can change the shape of the match, so in-play odds shift much faster.

In a multi bet, the decimal odds of each selection are multiplied together. Example: if three selections have odds of 1.50, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds = 1.50 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.56 (approximate). On a ৳100 stake, winning all three returns ৳456. However, if any one selection loses, the entire ৳100 is lost.

If a match is interrupted by rain or the result is determined by the DLS method, markets are settled according to wintk's terms and conditions. Generally, if the minimum required overs are not completed, the bet may be voided or returned. See the terms and conditions page for specific rules.

Yes, both BPL and IPL are T20 format, so the market types are the same — match winner, total runs over/under, toss, top batsman, and so on. However, the number of markets and the range of odds may vary depending on the importance of the match and the strength of the teams.

Once an in-play bet is confirmed, it generally cannot be cancelled, because odds keep changing live. A cash-out option may be available on some markets, but this depends on the market and the situation. It is best to check your decision carefully before placing a bet.
